We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our (team as a temporary maternity cover) and take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations. This role includes managing journal entries, payroll, tax reporting, bank reconciliations, and liaising with external vendors, clients, and banks. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of local Spanish accounting practices, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining financial accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the accounting system on a daily basis including record of journal entries, import and export reports, generating of monthly management reports and all mandatory reports for the authorities.
  • Help with preparing tax returns, tax retention, and VAT
  • Communicates (both in verbal and written form) with clients, suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts.
  • Maintain and control the "Petty Cash".
  • Perform the "Bank Reconciliation" procedure on a monthly basis.
  • Manage payroll and other salary issues.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Keep track of real estate and other assets of the company.
  • Prepare an appropriate schedule for all submissions of reports to the authorities and all other important dates.
  • Maintains historical records by filing documents.
  • Work closely and with full transparency with the accountants and the company management.



Requirements

  • Graduate of bookkeeping.
  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reports.
  • Full control of accounting software in Spain.
  • Full control in Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google (Gmail, Google Drive, etc).
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting, but must be able to do a manual set of books.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Chargebee- Advantage.
