Airbnb Superhost Status

If you’ve got listings on Airbnb, you’ve likely heard the term “Superhost” being thrown around by your peers and colleagues. Interested in learning more about the coveted status? Here’s everything you need to know about Airbnb’s Superhost badge and what it means for property managers.

What is an Airbnb Superhost?

Superhost is a status Airbnb distributes to select hosts to reward positive hosting behaviors. Those who achieve this status will receive a badge on their listings and profiles, indicating to users that they are Superhosts.

What are the benefits of becoming a Superhost?

Superhosts enjoy several advantages, namely:

  • Increased exposure – Superhosts are given priority in Airbnb’s search results, ensuring most guests will see their listings.
  • Exclusive rewards – They receive exciting perks, like an annual $100 travel card and an extra 20% added to referral bonuses.
  • More revenue – As a clear endorsement from Airbnb, the Superhost status is a means of standing out from the competition and is even a filter travelers use to narrow down their searches. This might explain why Superhosts’ revenue can exceed that of other hosts by as much as 22%.

How does one achieve Superhost status?

Meeting the following criteria qualifies an Airbnb host for Superhost status:

  • Reputation – Aspiring Superhosts must earn an overall guest rating of 4.8 or higher, based on reviews from at least half of their yearly guests.
  • Experience – They must also accommodate a minimum of 10 stays annually. For hosts accepting long-stay reservations, the requirement is at least 100 days of hosting per year, and a minimum of 3 separate stays.
  • Reliability – Superhost status requires a record of zero cancellations, apart from those made as a result of extenuating circumstances.
  • Availability – Hosts must respond to 90% of new inquiries within a 24-hour period to be eligible for Superhost status.

Worth the effort

Many of the criteria that deem property managers eligible for Superhost badges are also great ways to impress guests and encourage more bookings, so pursuing the status is definitely worth the effort. With over 650,000 hosts on Airbnb, anything property managers can do to give themselves an advantage is a plus.
